The 68th Annual Oxford-Cambridge
Boat Race Dinner in Chicago
will be on Friday, March 30th, 2007.

 

At the University Club of Chicago,

76 East Monroe Street (at Michigan Avenue), Chicago, Illinois

Cash bar: 6:00 p.m.  Dinner: 7:00 p.m.  Black Tie Optional.

 

Our guests of honor will be:

 

 Dr. Richard Joseph  (New College, Oxford 66)
John Evans Professor of Political Science
and Director of the Program of African Studies
at Northwestern University

 

and Jennifer Joseph

Professor Joseph was a Rhodes Scholar at New College, OxfordHe will speak on "Enduring Institutions", drawing on his Oxford and other educational experiences to reflect on key challenges being confronted in Africa.
 

Michael J. Dickenson (Christ’s College, Cambridge ‘69)
will report on
The 153rd Boat Race, to be rowed on
The Tideway, Saturday, April 7th, 2007.

 

Montana Butsch (St. Edmund Hall, Oxford, ‘02)
will speculate and
report on Chicago-area rowing developments.

In accordance with our custom, remarks appropriate to the occasion will be welcome
from all members during after-dinner proceedings.

 

 

PAYMENT: This year there are two payment options:

  1. Those wishing to pay by check may do so by printing this e-mail, completing the form below, and sending it with a check for $79 made payable to John H. Morrison/OCBRDC.

  2. Alternatively, those wishing to pay by credit card online may do so by following the instructions at the bottom of this e-mail.  The online price is $81, plus an online processing fee of $2.02.

Vegetarian dinners may be requested with your reply.

 

The Club operates with no dues; the dinner ticket must cover all expenses.  Any contribution you can make by check sent directly to John Morrison, beyond the price of dinner, would allow us to maintain our tradition of helping those who would otherwise be unable to attend.  We also welcome contributions from members who cannot attend this year.

If you would like to receive future invitations via electronic mail, please communicate that address to us, either through the form below or through e-mail.  If you know of any Oxford or Cambridge men or women who have come to this area recently, please let us know so that they too may be invited to the Dinner.

The Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race Dining Club of Chicago hosts events for alumni and friends of Oxford, Cambridge and other British Universities.

Its primary event is held in each spring at the University Club in downtown Chicago to celebrate the annual rowing of the Varsity Boat Race between Oxford and Cambridge.
